CLINTON, Miss. – After securing an opening night 2-0 victory over TX United on Thursday, Mississippi Brilla FC and the visitors from Dallas tangled up again on Saturday evening in Clinton. Mississippi Brilla FC (1-0-0) kicked off the 2019 season in front of a large opening day crowd, defeating Texas United 2-0.
Starting the match off with several strong surges towards the Texas United goal, Brilla FC was unable to take advantage of two early corner kick opportunities.
However, a strong effort by the Brilla defense and goalkeeper Alex Iglesias kept Texas United off the scoreboard.
Two caution cards were issued in the first half, one to Mississippi Brilla FC’s Duncan Storey in the 33rd minute and Texas United’s Dominique Kosseh in the 44th minute.

With the start of summer comes the start of a new season for Mississippi Brilla FC.
Now part of the new USL League Two, Brilla FC finds itself surrounded by newness. From Coach Luke Sanford, the team’s new head coach, and new division, moving from the Deep South Division to the Mid South Division, Brilla will look to improve on their 8-2-4 record.

In preparation for its 13th season, Mississippi Brilla FC has announced two additions to first year Head Coach Luke Sanford’s coaching staff. Joining Sanford on the sidelines this season will be Douglas Oliveira and Humberto Pelaez. Oliveira has been named Assistant Coach, while Pelaez will handle goalkeeper coaching duties.Oliveira, originally from Campinas, Brazil, is no stranger to Head Coach Luke Sanford or USL League 2. Coach Luke Sanford will lead a team coming off another successful season, hoping to improve upon their 8-2-4 record from 2018. Mississippi Brilla FC announced today that Luke Sanford has been appointed the Head Coach of the USL League Two Team. Mississippi Brilla will enter its 13th season in the league with its 5th head coach. Sanford replaces Mark McKeever after 4 seasons.
