Final Two Regular Season Home Matches for Mississippi Brilla on Friday and Sunday in Clinton
The top two teams in the Premier Development League’s Mid-South Division are scheduled to battle it out this weekend in Clinton, MS in a two game series with major playoff implications. After splitting two games in Midland, TX this past weekend, Mississippi Brilla and the Midland/Odessa Sockers look to settle the argument this weekend as to which team is the top of the division. The Sockers currently have the edge with a 5-2-1 record, while Brilla is nipping at their heels with a 4-2-2 mark on the season. The top two teams in the division advance to the PDL playoffs in a few weeks, so both teams are looking to hold their positions and also earn the coveted top seed in the division.
“It is not often that Mississippi soccer fans are able to watch two teams battle at this level,” said Executive Director Rusty Bryant. “I know that our team would love a full stadium to give them the extra energy they need to fight for two big wins at home this weekend.”
The weekend series kicks off on Friday, July 3 at 7:00 pm at Clinton’s Traceway Park. Friday’s match is Clinton Soccer Association and Brilla Jrs Night, allowing free admission to those players and coaches wearing their jerseys. Sno-Biz will be on hand, Brilla tattoos will be given to the first 200 fans, and halftime entertainment will feature the always popular Hot Dog Eating Contest.
Sunday’s series finale is also slated for 7:00 pm at Traceway Park. The final regular season home game is City of Clinton Night, and all city employees will receive free admission. Brilla will welcome Kona Ice to the game, as well as Lindsey Claire Dance Studio for halftime entertainment.
“We are excited to be hosting two games of such great importance this late in the season,” said Bryant. “It is fitting that these two games feature groups from our city, and we hope that the community will show up to support their team."
