Mike Azira Returns as Mississippi Brilla Head Coach

Mike Azira is set to return as the head coach for Mississippi Brilla for his third year at the helm.

Azira spent 11 years playing professional soccer in the United States. He played 7 years in the MLS in addition to 4 years in USL Championship before securing the head coaching job for Mississippi Brilla. During his tenure, Azira has led Brilla to a record of 10 wins, 4 ties, and 10 losses (10-4-10) during the past two seasons. A former Brilla player himself, Azira understands the importance of Brilla’s success as the club has one of the longest-standing and most renowned teams in USL 2 dating back to its inaugural season in 2007. Azira says that he is extremely proud to be a part of the club that he once played for. “It has always been a goal of mine to be a part of an organization that cares about people and wants to win as much as Brilla,” he says. The 2025 roster will look different than in years past because the recruiting process for the upcoming season has been focused on finding more local talent.

“Brilla is a community team,” Azira says. “It is important for players to feel that they are part of the team that they grew up watching and play in front of their friends and family from the area.” Because of this, there is a different feel of excitement surrounding the upcoming 2025 team. Azira says there are many new players who he is excited to work with to not only help them grow as soccer players, but people as well, and he cannot wait to begin making new memories that will last a lifetime.

As always, Brilla will be in a tough conference with a tough schedule, and Azira and his team are already prepared for the challenge.
