2023 Roster Announcements

Here are our 2023 Roster Announcements. As new players are announced, they will be added to the top of this list. 

Trey Gardiner

Defender

We are excited to announce the return of Trey Gardiner! The center back anchored our back line last year, starting 11 games with 802 minutes played. After his successful season in Mississippi, Gardiner was Davidson's captain in the Fall. He started all 17 games for the Wildcats with 1465 minutes played and added 2 goals. Coach Matt Horth says, “I’m thrilled Trey will be joining us again at Brilla this season! He was such a valuable part of our team last summer and had an exceptional season this fall at Davidson. Trey continues jumping from strength to strength and will play a significant role for Brilla this season.” We are looking forward to Trey returning to Mississippi this summer! 

Hayden Anderson

University of Memphis

 

Welcome to the squad, Hayden Anderson! Originally from South Carolina and playing for University of South Carolina-Upstate for 3 years, Hayden transferred to the University of Memphis for his Senior season. The defender started in 16 of their 19 games, adding 7 assists and 1 goal. We are happy to announce that Hayden Anderson will be continuing his journey down south and joining us for our 2023 season!

Jakob David

Midfielder

We are excited to welcome Jakob David to the 2023 Brilla team! Originally from Germany, Jakob is a Junior at the University of Indianapolis. The midfielder started 14 games this year, contributing 2 assists and a goal to the stat sheet. Mississippi Brilla is looking forward to having Jakob in Clinton for the 2023 season!

Ayden Von Essen

We are excited to announce Ayden Von Essen as our newest addition to the 2023 squad! Ayden is originally from Newcastle, Australia. He moved to the US and played for Lake Erie College. He is currently a Junior Belmont University where he started 6 of their 18 games, collecting a total of 568 minutes and scoring a goal for the Bruins. We are excited that Ayden will be joining us for the 2023 summer season!

Will Harris

Coventry, England

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville

 

Brilla is excited to announce our newest signing, Will Harris! The CB from Coventry, England was a 2021 NAIA All-American before transferring to D1 Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Will started and played in all 15 games with SIUE, playing 1283 minutes, and contributing 2 goals to the team. Welcome to Mississippi, Will!

Demitri Turner

James Madison University

 

Our latest roster addition is Demitri Turner from Lorton, Virginia! Demitri is currently playing for James Madison University where he appeared in 14 games, including 5 starts. He registered 2 assists during the Fall 2022 season. Off the field Demitri has been named JMU Athletic Director's Scholar-Athlete 3 times. We are excited to have Demitri in Mississippi this Summer!

Andres Delascio

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville

 

Welcome to the squad, Andres Delascio! Andres is a Venezuelan born Canadian (Milton, Ontario, Canada) and is currently enrolled at SIUE (Southern Illinois University Edwardsville). Andres started 14 of 15 games this year for the Cougars, collecting a total of 1127 minutes and finishing the season with 2 goals. Brilla is looking forward to the midfielder joining the 2023 squad!

Andreas Kokoska

Goalkeeper

Plzen, Czech Republic

William Carey University

 

We are pleased to announce the return of Andreas Kokoska! The goalkeeper from Czech Republic appeared in 5 games with 358 minutes played in 2022 with Brilla. Following his summer with Brilla, Kokoska had a very successful season at William Carey University, being named “First Team All Conference” and “First Team All East Region” with some impressive stats. Andreas started all 17 games while playing 1400 minutes total. He recorded 6 shutouts and was honored with being named “SSAC Defensive Player of the Week” (10/23/22). We are excited to bring in the experience and talent that Andreas has to offer back to Clinton for our 2023 season!

 Joe Mepham

Brilla is excited to announce our newest roster addition, Joe Mepham! Joe is a redshirt sophomore at Endicott college. As a freshman Joe was named All-Region First Team and All-CCC First Team, scoring 10 goals and adding 7 assists. Joe was honored with the captain's armband in 2022, starting all 21 games. Joe appeared on the stat sheet often with 6 goals and 13 assists across the 21 games. We look forward to having Joe in Mississippi for the 2023 season! 

David Chung

Midfielder

Canada/South Korea

University of Alberta (Canada)

 

Brilla’s newest signing is Canadian David Chung! Originally from South Korea, Chung currently roams the midfield for the University of Alberta in Canada. The former Canadian Youth National Team player had a great season in Alberta as he played in all 16 matches and started 14. Chung was able to find the stat sheet with 5 goals and 3 assists. We are excited to bring Chung’s talent to Mississippi for the 2023 season!

Luke Bryant

Defender/Midfielder

Clinton, MS, USA

Davidson College - Junior

Homegrown talent Luke Bryant is returning to Mississippi Brilla FC in 2023! Bryant, coming off an injury last summer, had a successful USL2 season as he featured in 10 games with 456 minutes played. Luke returned for his Junior year with Davidson College in the Fall, playing and starting in 12 games with a total of 690 minutes. He also added 2 goals and an assist to the stat sheet. 

 

“I’m super excited to be back at Brilla again this summer. I’ve been around Brilla since the beginning, and finally being able to contribute on the field has been such an amazing experience. I’m excited to play with the team Coach Matt has put together, and I think we’re going to have a run at a trophy. Being a part of Brilla every summer is such a blessing, and I can’t wait to see the impact it has on me, my team, and everyone involved in the organization. Up the Brilla!”
