McKeever to Return in 2016

By Datti Jinkiri

Brilla is pleased to announce that Mark McKeever will be returning as coach for the 2016 PDL season. It’s no surprise that McKeever will be returning, seeing that the club had a successful season with him at the helm.

In 2015, he led Brilla to a 6-3-3 record and a Mid South Division title. It was Brilla’s first division title since 2011. The club was able to host a playoff game in front of a raucous home crowd, but ultimately fell short in penalty kicks to FC Miami City.

McKeever is also coming off of a successful college season at Young Harris College, where he led the Mountain Lions to a 17-4 record and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. He also led the team to its second consecutive sweep of the Peach Belt Conference regular season and tournament championships.

I asked McKeever about his experience from last season and his expectations for this season. He responded with this statement:

“The part I enjoyed the most about Brilla were the people that are involved and the environment that is created by the owners, families, and community in Clinton, MS. The support we receive from the fans and the commitment from the people that surround the club are second to none.”

“Next season, we are looking for progress on last season. We are always going to set our sights as high as possible and I hope the common goal for everyone involved, from the players, staff, owners, and the community, is to be the best PDL team in the country. There are no guarantees in sport, but we can hope and dream and work hard to achieve our goals.”

“The players we have coming in next summer have the ability to create a very successful year. The expectation for the players and my staff is to work as hard as we possibly can to achieve our potential.”
