Seven-goal effort helps Brilla pick up win in Baton Rouge

CLINTON, Miss. - Seventh heaven! Propelled by a hat-trick from Franck Kouentchi, Mississippi Brilla FC picked up a 7-0 road win over division opponents LA Parish AC tonight. The win keeps Brilla unbeaten and moves the team to a 2-0-1 record this season.

The party started for Brilla in the 14th minute. Winger Jamie DiLuzio drove a corner kick into the path of defender Trey Gardiner. The tall center-back from Davidson College one-timed it into the net for the opening goal.

 

Brilla's lead was doubled only a minute later through Ocho Fasteen. Miguel Fernandez did well to float a cross towards the back post. The onrushing Fasteen arrived at the back post and headed the ball into the net.

 

Kouentchi entered the scoresheet in the 27th minute. Fernandez went on a lengthy run down the left wing before cutting the ball across the six-yard box to Kouentchi, where the Parisian tapped into an empty net.

 

Brilla was able to get a fourth goal just nine minutes before the end of the half. Defender Praise Ayeni played a nice ball into Fernandez's path, and the Spaniard smashed the ball into the corner.

The fifth goal came just a minute into the second half. DiLuzio played a nicely weighted pass into Kouentchi's path. The striker was able finish nicely for his second goal of the game.

 

Brilla wasn't finished yet, as the team then reached the half-dozen mark in the 51st minute. Kevin Daly's hard work enabled him to get a chance at the corner of the box. His deflected strike was parried into the net by the Parish goalkeeper.

 

Brilla's final goal came in the 70th minute through Kouentchi, who was finally able to complete his hat-trick. Fernandez forced the goalkeeper into making an error, and the ball went right into the path of Kouentchi. The striker put the chance away, giving him his third goal of the match and fourth goal of the season.

 

Next Game

Mississippi Brilla FC will be in action on Saturday night with a home game against the Louisiana Krewe. Kickoff from Clinton High School is set for 7:00 p.m.
