A lot will be new for Mississippi Brilla FC when the team kicks off their ninth season on May 16 with an exhibition against the Birmingham Hammers at Clinton High School.
A new coaching staff, as well as 21 players, will wear Brilla’s sky blue colors for the first time. While getting a large group of players on the same page in a very short amount of time is par for the course in the Premier Development League, it will be even more of a challenge this season. The team returns just ten players who...A pair of former Leicester City Youth Scholars have been added to the Mississippi Brilla FC roster for the 2015 Premier Development League season. Louis Greenway Tambini and Macauley King will be two of the younger players on this year's squad, but their experience within the English youth system should prove invaluable as they begin PDL competition in a few weeks.
Tambini, who won a National Championship with his hometown Nottingham School in England, was a Leicester City Youth Scholar before signing with Port Vale F.C. The midfielder/forward came to the states in the Fall...With the start of the Premier Development League season just over a month away, Mississippi Brilla FC has added a quartet of local college talent. Blundell, a native of York, England, was the starting goalkeeper for most of Brilla’s 2014 season. He logged over 1000 minutes in 12 games, registering 65...With summer just around the corner, Mississippi Brilla FC is preparing to train young soccer players through its summer camp series. “We are excited about another full summer of camps for the kids and youth of Mississippi,” said Executive Director Rusty Bryant. “With the coaching staff and quality of players that we are bringing...When Mississippi Brilla takes the field in May for it’s ninth season in the Premier Development League, a new crop of talent will be looking to move up in the professional ranks. If the past is any indication, Brilla will be the “Path to Pro” for several aspiring professional soccer players.Last summer the PDL unveiled it's “Path to Pro" marketing slogan. With over 70% of the players drafted in the MLS SuperDraft coming from the PDL, the league is clearly the first step along the path to becoming a professional soccer player. Mississippi Brilla FC is...The Premier Development League may seem far removed from the professional ranks of England, but former Middlesbrough defender Paul Weldon is hoping a change of scenery will lead to new opportunities.
"After having a good talk with Coach Mark Mckeever my mind was made up to play in the PDL,” said Weldon. "I am hoping to be part of a very successful season for Mississippi Brilla and advance to the further stages of the competition.”Weldon added, “Personally, I am very ambitious, so hopefully this opportunity can help me return to the...
