  • Angelo Kelly Shines with Brilla

By Datti Jinkiri & Scott Taylor

When Brilla Coach Mark McKeever added a versatile midfield playmaker to his 2017 roster, he knew exactly what he was getting. Kelly played in 16 matches for Mid-South Division rivals Midland/Odessa Sockers last summer.  He logged over 1300 minutes for a team that made it all the way to the PDL semifinals.  He was a key player down the stretch, making appearances in all 3 of his team's playoff games. More relevant to Coach McKeever, Kelly played 326 minutes over four games against Mississippi Brilla.  However, the Honduran-born Ottumwa, Iowa product has played a...

Brilla picked up another critical win tonight as they defeated FC Cleburne 5-0 at Clinton High School.  This gives Brilla six points in their last two matches, which is a solid response after dropping two in a row before that.  This victory also serves as vengeance of sorts, due to the team dropping a 2-0 away match to Cleburne last weekend.

Bader Boulajoul was on target early and often for Brilla.  The striker opened up the scoring in the 4th minute after heading a Guillaume Campos cross past the outstretched arms of Casey Tilley.  Boulajoul then doubled...

  • Brilla Takes Their First Loss of the Season to OKC Energy U23s

Tonight's Mid South Division matchup was a battle of two undefeated rivals. However, only one team, the Oklahoma City Energy U-23s, would emerge unscathed.  The Energy used two first-half goals to topple Brilla 2-1 at Clinton High School.

The visitors had a dream start to the rain-delayed match.  Striker Julio Moncada opened up the scoring in the 9th minute when he latched onto a Brilla clearance and fired a venomous shot into the top corner.

The Energy's lead stretched to two in the 30th minute.  Midfielder Timo Melich beat...

Tonight's match between Mississippi Brilla FC and the Brazos Valley Cavalry lived up to its billing as the PDL Game of the Week.  The encounter was full of end-to-end attacking prowess from the Mid South Division rivals.  Eventually, Brilla midfielder Troye Kiernan's 81st minute header was enough to give the hosts a 3-2 comeback victory.

Brilla started the game on the front foot, putting pressure on the Cavalry's defense.  Their pressure was rewarded in the 18th minute.  Midfielder Sinclaire Sandy performed a skillful turn and spotted winger Carlos Garces, who was making a powerful run into the box.  Garces...

Brilla's home opener came down to one vital moment from Thomas Vancaeyezeele, and he delivered.  The French midfielder scored the only goal of the match in the 71st minute, propelling the team to a 1-0 win over the Brazos Valley Calvary.  The three points gives Brilla a head start in the tough Mid South Division.

After winning the ball in defense, Jordan Skelton started the move by passing forward toward Vancaeyezeele. The eventual goalscorer dummied the ball to striker Mario Mastrangelo who drove at the Cavalry defense and found Portuguese winger Andre de Giorgi with a nice pass.  De...

Mississippi Brilla opened up their 2017 season last night with a 2-0 win over Peachtree City MOBA, but not before Brilla coach Mark McKeever made three late additions to the 2017 roster. Veteran Carlos Garces, Troye Kiernan, and Koray Easterling have fortified the already solid roster.

Garces was a key member of the 2015 Brilla roster, and he helped lead them to the PDL playoffs. The Colombian forward recently finished his senior season at the University of Northwest Ohio, leading them to a WHAC Title and an appearance in the NAIA Quarterfinals. Garces had five goals and...
