Jimenez Leads Brilla in Blowout

Mississippi Brilla FC entered the weekend needing two wins at home to have any chance of advancing to the playoffs next weekend. The first step was completed with a 6-0 drubbing of Peachtree City MOBA on Friday night.
Brilla jumped out in front early when Pau Jimenez played a brilliant ball through the gap that left Napo Matsoso with only the MOBA goalkeeper to beat. He was able to slot the ball past Konrad Dziedzic to give the hosts a 1-0 after only 6 minutes. The early lead held throughout the first half.
Jimenez wasted little time giving his team a cushion in the second half when he took a pass from Javen Palmer and buried his shot into the far corner in the 47th minute. The 2-0 lead seemed to relax the home team, but Brilla was not content to end the match with only a 2 goal margin.
Jimenez continued his stellar night by picking off a MOBA pass and laying the ball off to substitute Essognim Tatchoke. Tatchoke finished off the play and gave Brilla a 3-0 lead in the 75th minute. Just five minutes later, Tatchoke returned the favor and assisted on the second goal of the night for Jimenez. Jimenez exited the match in the 81st minute with 2 goals and 2 assists to his credit.
Less than a minute after replacing Jimenez, substitute and local product Chandler Shirley got into the action. Georgios Charkoutsakis used his hustle and ball control in the middle of the field before finding Shirley up the middle. Shirley’s initial attempt on goal was broken up by Dziedzic but he stayed with the play and tapped in a close range attempt in the 82nd minute to move the scoreboard to 5-0.
The final goal came in minute 88 as Rich Bryan’s free kick deflected off a MOBA defender and found an onrushing Ali Brador who buried his shot for the final 6-0 margin.
Brilla was dominant throughout the match and outshot the visitors from Peachtree City 21-10. Brilla goalkeeper Brendan Ledgeway made 6 saves on the night to maintain the clean sheet.
Brilla’s final home match of the regular season will take place on Sunday, July 15 against the same competition from Peachtree City. The match will kickoff at 7:00 pm at Clinton High School Arrow Stadium.
