Mississippi Brilla FC is a seasoned veteran in the Premier Development League, with 2016 marking its 10th year in the league. However, each year brings change, new challenges, and new beginnings. 2016 seems to be no different for the defending Mid-South Division Champions.
“The Premier Development League is an exciting league that is always evolving,” said Executive Director Rusty Bryant. “Because of our geographical location, we rarely play the same teams each year. We are looking forward to traveling to new places and welcoming new teams to Mississippi this year.”
Mississippi will remain in the Mid-South Division to defend its title, but the division has a noticeably different look from recent years. The Laredo Heat and Houston Dutch Lions have moved on, and are being replaced in the division by Springfield, MO and newcomer Oklahoma City, OK. The division rivalry with Midland/Odessa, TX will continue into 2016, and Albuquerque, NM will round out the five-team division.
Brilla will actually kick-off its Premier Development League schedule with a cross-division matchup against Peachtree City, GA. Due to geography and travel limitations, the home and away cross-division matches with the first year franchise in Georgia will replace games against division member Albuquerque, NM. The home opener against Peachtree City, GA is scheduled for Saturday, May 14 at 7:00 pm at Traceway Park in Clinton, MS.
“Our division is obviously spread out geographically, so being able to play matches against a closer team in another division is important,” said Bryant. “We are looking forward to hosting Peachtree City for their first ever match in the PDL.”
Brilla will play a 14 game schedule during the months of May, June, and July. All 7 home matches will be played at Traceway Park in Clinton, MS. A complete schedule may be viewed HERE.
