Mississippi Brilla FC Hosts Oklahoma City in a Two-Game Homestand

By Datti Jinkiri

Brilla finally returns to the familiar confines of Traceway Park, as they will host the Oklahoma City Energy U-23s in two critical division matches this weekend.  The boys in Carolina blue come into this weekend with a 2-3 record, while the Energy have a perfect 4-0 record.

Brilla are losers of their last three matches, including two to this Energy squad this past week.  To have any plausible chance of making another playoff appearance, the team needs to get maximum points this weekend.

Midfielders Carlos Perales, Sergio Royo, and Alex Shackley made their debuts during the last roadtrip.  Defender Joe Hulme made his debut as well.  All will likely be called upon to contribute this coming weekend.  Coach Mark McKeever will be looking to strikers Newton Henry and Lucas Cordeiro to inject some life into Brilla's (lately) toothless attack.

The Energy will be looking to have a continuation of their performances from this past weekend.  They are currently the only undefeated team in the Mid-South Division.  Striker Mauro Cichero was their man in form, scoring twice and assisting on another.  Defender Owain Hoskins also scored twice.

The doubleheader will be played on Friday and Sunday nights at Traceway Park.  Kickoff for both matches will be at 7:00 P.M.  If you are unable to attend, then you can watch the matches streamed here.
