Three Questions With Luke Bryant

Luke Bryant | Defender/Midfielder
Clinton, Mississippi | Davidson College

Who has been your biggest influence in your faith, and how did they influence you?

“I would have to say that the biggest influence on my faith has been my dad. Being around him so much has let me see how he lives and treats other people. The way that he conducts himself, treats others, and lives like Jesus has made a huge impact on my life and faith, so I strive to be a person who lives for God like he does.”

How does your faith intertwine with your soccer career?

“Being a soccer player who plays with and against so many different types of people has allowed me to be an influence on and off the pitch to them. Having teammates and friends who know my background and faith have led some to ask questions about my faith. I am then able to share the gospel and the love of Christ with them. The way that I strive to conduct myself on and off the field is also a way for me to show my faith because my teammates and the opponents can see that there is something different about the way I handle and conduct myself. I trust that God can use me in all sorts of ways in their lives if I do the right things and act as a light for the Lord.”

What is your favorite verse?

“My favorite bible verse is James 1:2-4. It says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
