Brilla will hit the road for the first time this season, as they travel to western Texas to face the Midland Odessa Sockers in a doubleheader. They are coming off their first loss of the season, a hard fought US Open Cup setback against the Oklahoma City Energy in penalties. Now without an extra cup competition to focus on, the boys in Carolina blue can now set their sights on their main goal: winning a PDL championship.
Brilla currently sits at 1-0-0 in the Mid South Division standings. They topped Peachtree City MOBA 2-1 in their PDL opener. They used goals from leading scorer Eduardo Cruz and Lucas Cordeiro to pull out a comeback victory.
The Sockers are currently first in the Mid South Division standings with a 2-0-0 record. They picked up two crucial road victories in Albuquerque this past weekend, winning 2-1 and 1-0. Bruno Almeida bagged a brace in the first match, leading the Sockers to a comeback victory. Leon Taylor, a college teammate of former Brilla player Len Smith, scored the only goal in the second match of the weekend.
Grande Communications Stadium in Midland will be the site for Thursday's and Saturday's matches. Both matches will kickoff at 7:30.
The PDL had deemed the Thursday matchup the "Game of the Week." It will be streamed live HERE.
