2022 Brilla Season Preview: The Midfield

Over the next few days, we will take a look at the 2022 Mississippi Brilla FC roster from back to front. The midfielders will be previewed today.

Central Midfielders

(Defensive, Attacking, Box-to-Box)

Defensive midfielder Jack “Ocho” Fasteen is a Brilla returner from 2021. He tallied an assist in 13 appearances and played a big part in the team winning the Mid South Division last summer. He recently completed a three-year spell with the University of Louisville, where he made 41 appearances

Marco Astorga slotted seamlessly into Brilla's team in 2021 after making a mid-season arrival. He scored a goal in the division-clinching tie against the AHFC Royals, and he added an assist in the playoff win versus Kings Hammer FC.

Nika Monaselidze could add goalscoring to the attacking midfield position this summer. The Tbilisi, Georgia native scored six goals and tallied six assists at West Virginia Wesleyan in the fall.

Ethan Unger scored twice and added four assists for Dallas Baptist in the fall. He will also add an attacking threat in the center of park.

David Trevizo – who is Unger's teammate at Dallas Baptist – made 13 appearances in the fall and scored a huge go-ahead goal against nationally-ranked Midwestern State. He will also add some quality to the midfield.

As stated before, Tyler Stopford could feature in the backline or the midfield. He scored a goal and added three assists for Belmont Abbey in the fall.

Cole Farrior is a local product who was a part of Brilla's College Training Academy in 2020. The Brandon native featured in Auburn Montgomery's midfield in the team's NCAA Division II Elite Eight campaign.
