St. Louis tops Brilla in a Rain-Shortened Affair

By Datti Jinkiri

Goals from Mike Lightbourne and David Stoll were enough to give the St. Louis FC U-23s a 2-1 win over Brilla at Traceway Park.  The game was delayed for over two hours, and in the end, both teams agreed to play only one half.

Lightbourne opened up the scoring in the 2nd minute.  The Missouri State product received a pass from striker Ezana Kahsay and placed a driven shot past the outstretched hands of Brendan Ledgeway.

Brilla's equalizer came just four minutes later.  Ignacio Flores scored one of the most unorthodox goals of his career when he blocked Seth Stiebel's clearance into the goalkeeper's own net.  It was Flores' second goal in as many matches, and it was his third goal of the season.

However, the eventual game winner came in the 16th minute for St. Louis.  Lightbourne's pass found striker David Stoll, who fired a shot past Ledgeway.

This was the season finale for both teams.  Brilla finishes the season with four wins, six losses, and four draws.  St. Louis FC finishes with three wins, eight losses, and three losses.
